Hello from San Antonio, Texas!
No? Then here's my chance to remind you. It was originally named Mision San Antonio de Valero. The Alamo served as home to missionaries & their Indian converts for nearly 70 years. Construction began in 1724.
Today, people worldwide continue to remember the Alamo's battle of March 1836 (The Texas Revolution and the death of Davey Crockett) as a heroic struggle against overwhelming odds - a place where men made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. For this reason the Alamo remains hallowed ground and the Shrine of Texas Liberty.
Texas became the 28th state in the U.S.A. in 1845 ! God Bless Texas!, I'm heading west again, but first I'm heading to a "World's Largest" in Fort Stockton. I love those things. Post ya tomorrow when I get there.
