Howdy from Odessa, Texas

Hello from me and John Ben Rabbit, the world's largest jackrabbit.
He's been residing in Odessa, Texas since he was built in 1962 out of fiberglass. He stands a whopping 6' tall. Sure, not as tall as say....NBA players, but compared to a 10" gnome, he gianormous! Next stop, New Mexico. Catch ya there.

The Giant Roadrunner Part 1

Hello from Fort Stockton, Texas. This giant roadrunner is Paison Pete. He's 11 feet tall, 20 feet long and weighs over 800 pounds. They claim he's the worlds largest, but I'm told there's one in Las Cruces, NM. I'll be the judge. But first, a little side trip up to Odessa, Texas. I've heard say of a gem there worth seeing. More from there....

I Remember the Alamo!

Hello from San Antonio, Texas!

No? Then here's my chance to remind you. It was originally named Mision San Antonio de Valero. The Alamo served as home to missionaries & their Indian converts for nearly 70 years. Construction began in 1724.

Today, people worldwide continue to remember the Alamo's battle of March 1836 (The Texas Revolution and the death of Davey Crockett) as a heroic struggle against overwhelming odds - a place where men made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. For this reason the Alamo remains hallowed ground and the Shrine of Texas Liberty.

Texas became the 28th state in the U.S.A. in 1845 ! God Bless Texas!, I'm heading west again, but first I'm heading to a "World's Largest" in Fort Stockton. I love those things. Post ya tomorrow when I get there.

Yee Haw, Ya'all!

Howdy Bloggers!
I reckon ya'all might recognize this mansion, but for those of you who slept through the 80's and don't, I'll give you a hint. Who Shot J.R.?

Yep, I'm at Southfork Ranch in Texas. Despite the title of the T.V. show, it's not in Dallas. It's in Parker, Texas. It's about 20 miles north of Dallas. If you ever get here, I recommend Miss Ellie's Deli. Excellent roast beef! Unfortunately, there was no sign of Charlene Tilton or Victoria Principal!

A fella I met is heading to San Antonio tomorrow, but after that visit, I'm finally heading west. I'm looking forward to getting to California. Of course I'll be making a few stops along the way at some points of interest. Hopefully I'll get some good pics and a chance to blog ya'all!

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

This is a picture of me at the Outdoor Symbolic Memorial in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This memorial honors the victims, survivors, rescuers and all who were changed forever on April 19, 1995.

The design was selected in an international design competition including 624 entries submitted from every state and 23 countries. It was announced in July 1997 that the winning designer was Butzer Design Partnership. Groundbreaking was held in September 1998 and was dedicated on April 19, 2000 by President Clinton.

It's a beautiful and moving memorial and if you have the opportunity to visit it, you should.

Off The Beaten Track!

This should-be wonder of the world is the World's Largest Ball of Twine. It resides in Cawker City, Kansas. FYI: This ball of twine was started in 1953 and is currently over 17,500 pounds. The circumference is 40 feet! I've seen entire gnome villages smaller than this ball of twine. Impressive. I recommend visiting this point of interest as soon as you can. Heading to OK in the AM.

St. Louis, Missouri

Greetings Friends!
This snapshot was taken a few days ago in St. Louis, MO. Sorry it took me so long to post, but it's difficult to get access to a computer when you're traveling on the road. I'm currently in Beloit, Kansas. I'm making a quick trip to see the world's largest Ball of Twine tomorrow, then I'm catching a lift with a bloke named Barney. He's heading south so I'll be in Oklahoma shortly. I will try to post again then. Take care.

(P.S.: Sorry the picture is low quality, had to buy one of those instant cameras because I forgot to pack the battery for my digital. Bear with me until I'm able to get to a Best Buy to get a new one.)

Boxers or Briefs?

Well, I accomplished two of my goals. I did my laundry and practiced taking pictures with my new digital camera. Now I'm off to pack. Keep checking back for updates on my adventures.

Happy 2006 My Friends!

Well, we survived the holidays. Personally, I'm glad they are over. It's time for me to take my show on the road, so to speak.

There are so many places I want to visit that I'm itching to get on the road. More than not I travel alone, though on occasion I do meet up with others like me. In fact, my plan is to head west to the Pacific Ocean. A buddy of mine text messaged me recently (even Gnomes are high tech!) and he might be able to get us on a steamer ship that's heading to the Hawaiian Islands. I've got a little time between then and now so I can make a few stops out west on my way to California. One of my first stops after Hawaii is Rio. It's one of my favorite places to visit. Man, I can almost taste the margaritas now! But, nothing is set in stone. I'm like a leaf going wherever the wind blows me. A rolling stone gathers no moss! I'm totally moss-free.

I'm starting out a couple of days late on my grand adventure. The original plan had me leaving this very evening, but I rang in the New Year a little harder than expected (if you get my meaning) so I'm a little worse for wear today. So, I'll recuperate today by having a little hair of the dog, practice with my new digital camera and finish washing my clothes so I can pack. I am officially heading out at sunset on January 3, 2006.

On my trip I'll probably have limited chances to blog, but I'll take as many photos as I can and post whenever possible. So keep checking back periodically for updates.

Wishing you all Health, Wealth and Happiness in 2006!

Sincerely,

Clive the Gnome King

PS: I finally finished my personal profile, so check that out too!
